Want to know what iPad I use, what brand of screen protector I use, or what case I like? I get a lot of questions asking what equipment I use, so I made this list for anyone wanting to know more!
My iPad: Apple iPad Pro 2021 (12.9-inch, Wi-Fi, 1TB)
The trusty iPad Pro!
My iPad Stylus: Apple Gen 2 Pencil
My Apple Pencil. FYI: Gen 2 Pencils ONLY work with Gen 3 and Gen 4 iPad Pros. Likewise, Gen 1 pencils WON’T work with Gen 3 or Gen 4 iPad Pros. If you have any other model besides the Gen 3 or 4 Pro that is compatible with the Apple Pencil, you can ONLY use the Gen 1 Apple Pencil. This is one of the rare cases where you don’t have to decide if you should get the older or newer model. There is only one type of Apple Pencil that will work with your particular iPad.
The pro-draw™ grip for Apple Pencil
A grip for Apple Pencil made by yours truly! I set out to create a more comfortable solution for using the Apple Pencil during long drawing sessions and the pro-draw™ grip was born! Compatible with all models of Apple Pencil!
My Screen Protector: Tech Armor Matte Screen Protector
I know the “cool” thing to do is to buy the super expensive Paperlike screen protector. I’m cheap and prefer to save the extra money…so I opt for this instead. With a nice matte finish and a budget price, this is my go-to screen protector! (The version I featured here is for my 12.9” Gen 4 iPad Pro, but this company makes versions for all other iPad models. Feel free to search on Amazon for other sizes offered by Tech Armor if you have a different iPad.)
My iPad Stand: Sketchboard Pro for iPad Pro 12.9”
A great stand that makes drawing easier!
Flat, smooth drawing surface all around iPad transforms the iPad into a sheet of paper
Fold-out legs create a comfortable 20-degree incline
Stands in landscape, portrait orientation, and vertically like an easel
Charge while you draw with a port for your charging cable
Magnetic cradle to keep your iPad safely locked in place
My iPad Case: Apple Magic Keyboard for 2020 iPad Pro 12.9”
When I’m drawing, I use my Sketchboard Pro stand, but when I’m traveling or using my iPad to type…I use Apple’s Magic Keyboard! A great keyboard paired with an excellent trackpad truly makes the iPad feel a like a laptop!
My Art Glove: The Pro-Draw Glove
A drawing glove is a must have for digital artists! Not only does a drawing glove reduce friction, allowing your hand to glide effortlessly across your drawing surface which improves your strokes, it also keeps your screen free and clear of smears and smudges. Your screen stays clean, and your lines will have never looked better!
